Prisila's PhD project focuses on the natural enemy abundance and diversity in bean fields around the Moshi and Himo areas. Prisila aims to understand how field margin management impacts on the numbers and diversity of natural enemies that control pests of beans, especially parasitoid wasps. This work includes surveys on farm fields, as well as highly controlled experiments to look at parasitoid emergence from pests under different management regimes and parasitism of sentinel pests. Prisila has also been working on improving communication with farmers and raising awareness of insects on farms using novel ICTs.
